About The Northern Ohio Clinical Social Work Society (NOCSWS)

NOCSWS is a professional organization for clinical social workers* and related clinical professionals who practice in Greater Cleveland and the Northeast Ohio area.


  • To strengthen the practice of clinical social work by keeping members informed through offering continuing education seminars, opportunities to network and interact with colleagues, timely information about upcoming events and programs in the greater Cleveland community (see Programs and Resources)
  • To provide a forum for networking among clinical care professionals in the Northeast Ohio area (See Programs and Study Group).
  • To provide the opportunity for members to obtain peer consultation through their participation in an on-going study group (See Study Group)

* What is clinical social work? Clinical social workers must have a master’s or doctorate degree in social work and have considerable knowledge of human development, behavior, and psychological disorders, plus understand the impact of the environment on relationships and functioning. They provide mental health assessment and treatment for individuals, couples, families and groups. Clinical social work includes, but is not limited to counseling, psychotherapy, and mental health consultation.
